In addition, the drug can be used alone or in combination with rifabutin to prevent infection with Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC). This is a common opportunistic infection in people with advanced HIV/AIDS .

Doctors may sometimes use a combination of azithromycin and ethambutol to treat disseminated MAC infection (DMAC) in patients with advanced HIV infection.

Symptoms of infection should improve after the first few days of treatment with Zitromax. In case there is no improvement or even unusual problems, you need to contact your doctor for advice.

If your symptoms do not improve or get worse, call your doctor.

Zitromax extended release tablets

For extended-release tablets, take with a glass of water on an empty or full stomach.

Zitromax suspension

The suspension form is usually used at least 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after eating to ensure that the food is not affected.

  • If it is a single dose azithromycin suspension, mix it with about 60 ml of water, then drink it immediately. To ensure adequate dose, you should rinse the cup to drink any remaining medicine
  • If it is a multi-dose azithromycin suspension, you need to shake the vial well before use to mix the active ingredient. Use the available dosimeters to accurately take the required dose and rinse it off after use.
