Ketotifen is an antiallergic drug and is used in cases of hypersensitivity. The drug has mast cell stabilizing and antihistamine effects. Since then, the drug relieves allergy symptoms, reduces bronchospasm.

Indications for treatment:

  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Allergic conditions on the skin
  • Whole body allergy
  • Medal

4.1. Dosage

For oral medications:

  • Adults: 1 tablet x 2 times/day. The dose can be increased to 2 tablets, twice a day
  • When drowsiness occurs at the beginning of the course, can take 1/2 tablet, 2 times a day, then increase the dose.
  • Children 6 months - 3 years old: use 1/2 adult dose

For eye drops:

  • Adults and children > 3 years old: put 1 drop in the affected eye for 6-12 hours
  • Newborns: consult a doctor

  • Platelet count may be transiently reduced, in patients taking oral antidiabetic drugs (rare). Blood platelet counts should be checked regularly

8.1. Pregnant and lactating women

You should only use the drug in pregnant and lactating patients if absolutely necessary

9. Handling of Ketotifen overdose

Overdose symptoms: drowsiness, confusion, disorientation, loss of consciousness, nystagmus, convulsions, decreased heart rate, tachypnea and occasionally respiratory depression may occur.

10. What to do when you miss a dose of Ketotifen

11. How to store Ketotifen

Store the medicine in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30oC, away from direct light.
