1. What is Mumcal?

Mumcal is prepared in the form of an oral solution containing the active ingredient calcium lactate 500mg. Medicines are often used to replenish electrolytes.

You should note that the drug is only for oral use, absolutely not injected.

2. Uses of the drug Mumcal

Mumcal is indicated in several cases:

  • Provide calcium cations to supplement or prevent calcium depletion in patients with a moderate diet but not enough calcium.
  • Calcium deficiency due to hypoparathyroidism, gastric acid deficiency, chronic diarrhea, vitamin D deficiency , steatorrhea, enteritis, pregnant and lactating women, menopause, pancreatitis , renal failure, alkaline…
  • Osteoporosis in the elderly or treated with corticosteroids, rickets.

The drug is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
  • Hypercalcemia, severe hypercalciuria.
  • Severe renal failure, blood galactose.
  • Ventricular fibrillation in cardiac resuscitation.
  • Bone resorption malignancies.
  • Osteoporosis due to immobility.

4. Instructions for taking the drug Mumcal

4.1. Dosage

The dose of Mumcal should be adjusted according to the age and symptoms of each patient. The dose of the drug will vary from person to person. You should note that the doses shown below are for reference only . Therefore, you must not arbitrarily use but must strictly adhere to the dose prescribed by the doctor.

  • Adults: 2 ampoules (10ml) x 2-3 times/day.
  • Children: 1 ampoule (10ml) x 1-2 times/day.

The drug is taken orally, after a full meal. You should shake well before use.

6. Interactions when using Mumcal

  • Calcium can reduce the absorption of oral tetracycline or fluoride preparations, so if these preparations are taken together, they must be taken about 3 hours apart.
  • When taken concurrently, vitamin D increases calcium absorption.
  • Foods such as vegetables, grains, milk and dairy products decrease the absorption of calcium in the digestive tract.
  • In patients taking digitalis (a heart medication), high doses of calcium may increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias.

8.1. Pregnant and lactating women

10. Dealing with a missed dose of Mumcal
